Turning up the heat in Reed

When our client wanted to replace the oil boiler with something renewable, she turned to us. It had to be convenient and cosy but powerful enough to heat the whole house – an MCZ Musa biomass stove was our recommendation. Nestling in the existing chimney breast, the visible flame and radiating warmth give the room a real focal point.

The stove sustains a 390 litre Xcel Heat Bank thermal store which in turn provides the hot water via an external heat exchanger and a two zone central heating system with programable room stats to keep everything under control. As the weather warms up the stove will be used less frequently and there is an immersion powered by the PV panels to supply hot water in the summer.

The real credit should go to the owner – as well as a complete refurbishment, this remarkable property is now totally powered by renewable energy, a fantastic achievement.
